Happy birthday to me. Tina’s invited people over tomorrow evening for cupcakes. I’m more of a “let’s not make a fuss” type of guy, but Tina wanted to do something.
If you know where I live, you’re more than welcome to drop by and hang out tomorrow
Check out our up-and-coming political podcast, Dead Politics. Episode #3 has just been posted. It’s chock full of commentary on Obama’s big win in the Iowa caucus.
We’ve started putting up some “best of 2007″ lists over at Dead Lantern. Here’s my list and Mat’s list. Hopefully Steve, Deejay and Brady might put up some of their favorites as well.
I just watched The Condemned, a straight-to-DVD action flick starring Steve Austin. You might dismiss it since it comes from WWE films, but I thought it was a fun watch. Sort of an updated version of The Running Man or Surviving the Game. There are a couple really tedious subplots but nothing too damaging.
Shout-outs to Phat over on the SCS board for sharing this link. I’m not a huge hip-hop guy (although I do like it just fine) but this interview is interesting to me for whatever reason. When they get into the context of what is modern hip-hop, that’s almost a parallel to other debates I’ve had, like what is or isn’t a classic horror movie, etc.
I ordered an MXL990 USB microphone, which will hopefully be delivered on Monday. Mat, Steve & I are going to try to do some podcasting from Grand Island on Christmas Day so I wanted a microphone that would pick all three of us up as we sit around a table. The MXL990 is the same microphone we use in Spooky McPhee’s haunted studio (although his aren’t USB) so I’m hoping we get good results with this one. The USB and non-USB versions look identical aside from the connection on the bottom, of course. We’ll hook it up to my laptop and give it a try.
Assuming it all goes as planned, you can look forward to a special Christmas Day edition of The Splattercast. But then, I guess I won’t be uploading it until a couple days later, so don’t plan your whole holiday around it
The guy’s name is Huckabee. Huck-uh-bee. Not Hucklebee.
I’m not even “for” this guy (aside from being thrilled that a “real” candidate has campaigned on the FairTax) but this mispronunciation of his name is driving me nuts.
I just heard some guy call in to Rush Limbaugh’s show, purporting to be a big Huckabee supporter, and the guy kept saying “Hucklebee” over and over. Made him sound really foolish.
Am I wrong? Is this just an accepted alternate pronunciation?
Also: I did a one-click upgrade of my WordPress software and it fouled up my site’s skin. I guess I’ll look around for a backup of my design, or just pick a new skin. It was a good thing I did it here, before I try to upgrade Dead Lantern’s software and nuke that skin
