Dead Politics Episode #8

Check out episode #8, it’s super.
I’ve taken tomorrow off of work to take Tina to the hospital for some outpatient surgery. She’s having her gallbladder removed because it’s been causing her some serious discomfort. Apparently it’s something that can happen to women after they start having children. She’s nervous (who wouldn’t be?) and we’re hoping everything goes smoothly.
I’ve charged up both my DS and my GBA micro, and I loaded some new podcasts onto my iPod so I should be good to go for the long wait in the hospital.
Speaking of podcasts, if you like listening to me as much as I like listening to myself, then you should check out these podcasts that I co-host…

Dead Politics episode #5 has been posted. Get it here.

Episode #4 has just been posted, so get it while it’s hot!

Check out our up-and-coming political podcast, Dead Politics. Episode #3 has just been posted. It’s chock full of commentary on Obama’s big win in the Iowa caucus.
The guy’s name is Huckabee. Huck-uh-bee. Not Hucklebee.
I’m not even “for” this guy (aside from being thrilled that a “real” candidate has campaigned on the FairTax) but this mispronunciation of his name is driving me nuts.
I just heard some guy call in to Rush Limbaugh’s show, purporting to be a big Huckabee supporter, and the guy kept saying “Hucklebee” over and over. Made him sound really foolish.
Am I wrong? Is this just an accepted alternate pronunciation?
Also: I did a one-click upgrade of my WordPress software and it fouled up my site’s skin. I guess I’ll look around for a backup of my design, or just pick a new skin. It was a good thing I did it here, before I try to upgrade Dead Lantern’s software and nuke that skin ![]()
Michelle Malkin has awesome coverage of last night’s CNN YouTube debate. Lots of fishy stuff going on. Over on a Dead Lantern thread, Mat questions the charges of bias being leveled at CNN over this issue. Whether you think CNN was out to get the Republicans or not, you cannot deny that the network is looking pretty foolish right now.
So there’s another socialis… er, I mean Democrat debate tonight. All eyes will be on Hillary after her poor performance at the last debate. There’s a rumor going around that Wolf Blitzer has been “warned” not to be too rough on Mrs. Clinton tonight.
I’ve been reading some Media Matters lately (recommended for fans of feigned outrage) and they have a typically wacky set of guidelines for Blitzer.
I kind of want to watch the debate, but I’m also on the last couple levels in Manhunt 2, so I’ll probably rock the PS2 instead of the CNN. I’ll catch the debate highlights (or would that be lowlights?) in tomorrow’s news.
I’m having some writer’s block here, not sure what to post about. I kinda want to say something about how terrible Hillary Clinton’s campaign is doing right now, but I’m not sure how to lay that out. It’s pretty apparent to anyone who’s paying attention, but it’s still very early so she can definitely recover. I will be interested to see if Wolf Blitzer “pulls a Russert” on her in this next CNN debate.
Oh, in case you didn’t know, “pulling a Russert” means “asking Hillary any pertinent questions at all.”
For some filler, I was browsing around my forum, which has been pretty stagnant lately, and reading through some of our older threads. Some of them are pretty interesting to read, so you can kill some time checking these out. They all tend to meander a bit, but I think there’s some good stuff here…
Movie & radio censorship, Neal Boortz
Robots & artificial intelligence
New car safety features (this is a favorite of mine)
Abortion (because young men have the best ideas on this
)
Electric cars, environmentalism as religion
I love to debate this stuff, these epic forum threads are so much fun to me. I guess the problem is that we repeat ourselves. I stand pretty firm on my side, Mat’s pretty firm on his side and we sort of say the same things over and over. Even so, I still love it. Mat has mentioned possibly doing a new political podcast with our pal Deejay. I would love to worm my way into that with them. We’ll see if it goes anywhere; we’ve got so many irons in the fire, it’s hard to fit it all in with jobs and family priorities.
I posted about Rush Limbaugh putting Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s letter on eBay the other day. The auction has ended and the letter went for a whopping 2.1 million dollars! Rush pledged to match the high bid, so that’s 4.2 million bucks going to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, a charity that gives scholarships to the children of slain Marines and other federal law enforcement officers.
I was going to cut together some highlights from the radio show and provide an mp3, like I did for the last post, but that’s kind of a chore and I’m sure very few of you guys would bother listening anyway
In any case, out of the five or so years that I’ve been listening to his show, this is probably the defining Rush moment. These arrogant senators abused their power and Rush totally threw it back in their faces.
