Vista no likey DVD Shrink?
April 30th, 2008 by JeffI made a few coasters before I figured out that my old DVD Shrink + Nero setup does not work under Vista. Weak! Fortunately there appears to be a solution: Use DVD Shrink and output to .iso, and then burn with ImgBurner. A quick test late last night seems to have worked.
Vista’s stupid; I may have to go back to XP but it would be such a hassle. If your OS doesn’t allow me to easily copy Netflix DVDs back up my crucial files, then that’s just lame.

Vista is a big mess of shit I re-call teaching the people at my old job how to do it when we reinstalled it into all the desktops. That OS became the bane of my existence for like two months till we had all the classes done. I say go back to xp till they work out the bugs and all the lameness of vista.

Fa sho. I’m almost tempted to try Ubuntu. I know some Linux nerds and they’re always getting on my jock, telling me to try it.

Does Adobe Photoshop work under Wine? Photoshop is sort of like the last thing I need Windows for.

I just use a VMWare or a QEMU/KVM VM to run Fireworks/Photoshop with. It works well, even with modest hardware and it’s so much nicer than having to deal with Windows all the time for it. For Windows (XP/Vista) I strongly recommend Deepburner. It’s the closest thing to Nero, when it was good, or k3b that I’ve found for current Windows.
