No Country for Old Men

I finally got to see No Country for Old Men last night. We went with some friends after dinner and drinks. I thought it was a really great movie. The ending is befuddling, to say the least, but I was pretty riveted throughout the whole thing. And though you may be bewildered, I think the ending makes sense and fits with the rest of the movie if you ponder it for a little while. One of our group had read the novel and told us that the movie follows it almost exactly.
Generally speaking, I think the Oscars can eat a dick but I’d like to see No Country win some awards.

Great movie, yes. The ending is ballsy, but makes sense in the grand scheme of things. Still a little jarring when you actually experience it though.
Can it win an award for scariest motherfucker, ever?

I think you mentioned several audience members sort of laughing in bewilderment when you went, and that same thing happened when we saw it, even though it was a late showing and there weren’t a ton of people there. Several audible laughs and a couple “that’s it?” comments.
And yes, definitely, Anton Chigurgh was scarier than pretty much any horror movie I’ve seen all year.
